The narrative is also compelling, if somewhat lacking in dynamism. The setting and narrative of Metro is truly captivating- crawling through ruined Underground tunnels where bullets are currency, stations are towns, and the Surface is a thrilling, dangerous risk is represented beautifully in Last Light Redux. Overall, this was a great game, and while I dont think its as good, if you liked the original, youll like this game a lot too.Ī good setting and interesting concept marred by poor performance and execution. The dlc here is also not very great either, where I cant say id recommend you really play any of them. This isnt bad or anything, but this and the inclusion of boss fights are the only changes that I could really think of as to why I may like it less. I think it has something to do with this game being less atmospheric and more focused on cod style set pieces. It has a better story and more explorable levels, but it just lacks the charm of the original. But for some reason which I cannot put my finger on, I just dont like it as much as the first one. The world here is also great, and thankfully they added more solo explorable missions, something which I wanted from the last game. The gameplay here is identical to the last game, with the shooting and stealth being exactly the same. The choice system in this game feels like something that actually matters, and something that I actually engaged in to get the good (and canon) ending. The story here is better, technically anyways, because there are more plot events that happen, and less following people around. I go back on forth on which metro game I like most.ġ1h 48m PlayedStill a really great game, but for some reason just not as good as the first game. Last sequence was grand, and the good ending really is one of the most rewarding good endings ever. Anna makes her first appearance here as kind of a side character and I thought her iconic rabbit comment was kinda funny but also just weird, but don't worry, she gets a massive arc in the sequel. I always let him live, the two musketeers deserved to be reunited. The little one recognizing in the courtyard fight that deep down, Pavel didn't want to fight Artyom after the near death experience they shared together made me wonder if being antagonistic was Pavel's way of coping with the situation as a soldier. Pavel is a character I really loved and the more interesting villain in the game, and I love the dynamic he and Artyom shared. Korbut was a classic, boring villain, nothing really more to say to his character other than how terrifyingly manipulative he is. The rest of the story that follows was excellent. Artyom carries a burden in this game - he singlehandedly ended a race of evolved humans, and that guilt has driven him to try and make contact with any potential Dark Ones still living. To the point I have to knock it down a peg a bit for that. Stealth is even more viable - in fact, stealth is the ideal way to play this game. Gameplay/Combat is a little bit improved with a bit more weapons, but mechanics are the same. 22h 50m ProgressThe sequel to 2033! This game is a more than worthy sequel.
